Using Kinora
Kinora is a free planner for film festivals. Anyone can read about it; planning a festival needs an account, and one account works for every festival. Use your real email address, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has got into your account.
The programmes
Kinora is independent and is not affiliated with the festivals it lists. Their programmes are taken from the listings each festival publishes, and festivals change them: screenings are added, moved and cancelled. Kinora checks for changes but cannot promise that every listing is complete, correct or current. End times are estimates (the runtime plus ten minutes), because festivals publish start times only.
Before you buy a ticket or travel, check the listing on the festival’s own site. Kinora does not sell tickets, and any ticket you buy is between you and the festival.
What you write
Your notes, tags, hide reasons, group name and messages are yours. You allow Kinora to store them and to show them to you, and to the people you choose to share with through groups and links, as described in the Privacy policy. That permission ends when you delete them or your account.
What not to do
- Do not harass, threaten or abuse other people in groups or film discussions.
- Do not post anything illegal, or anyone else’s personal information without their permission.
- Do not pretend to be someone else, or to speak for a festival you do not represent.
- Do not copy the programmes out of Kinora in bulk with scripts or scrapers, or put a heavy automated load on the service.
- Do not try to get into accounts, groups or data that are not yours, or to get around Kinora’s security.
Kinora may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules.
Names, posters and images
Festival names and logos, posters and film images belong to the festivals and the films’ rights holders. Kinora shows them to identify the festival and the films in its programme. If you hold the rights to something shown and want it removed, say so through the contact form. The Kinora name, design and software belong to Kinora.
The service
Kinora is provided as it is, and changes over time: features are added, changed and taken away. It aims to be available whenever you need it, but cannot promise that it will never be down or never lose anything. If Kinora is ever going to close, you will be told in the app beforehand and will be able to ask for a copy of your data.
Limits of responsibility
As far as the law allows, Kinora is not responsible for losses that come from using it or from relying on a listing, such as a missed screening, a ticket bought for a changed or cancelled showing, or travel planned around a time that was wrong. Nothing in these terms takes away rights that the law where you live gives you and that cannot be signed away.
Closing your account
You can stop using Kinora at any time. To have your account and everything in it deleted, ask through the contact form, giving the email address on your account.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. If a change matters to how you use Kinora, you will be told in the app before it takes effect. Using Kinora after that means you accept the new terms.
